Wine Folly:

Pg. 165 - Wine Folly discusses Sauvignon Blanc in terms of flavor as a "unique-tasting white wine with strong herbaceous flavors". The fruits that are included in its flavor profile are gooseberry, Honeydew, grapefruit, white peach, and passion fruit. When I did my tasting, I certainly got the taste of honeydew, passionfruit, and a hint of grapefruit but I didn't taste the presence of gooseberry or white peach in the Barefoot Sauvignon Blanc. It was a highly acidic wine and it had a very light and dry feel to its taste. These characteristic flavors are likely due to the terroir of the Modesto, California Region. The climate in California is more suitable for full-bodied red wines rather than whites. (pg. 284).

My Review:

I was honestly not especially impressed by the Barefoot Sauvignon Blanc. The wine was very crisp and try but it could've stood to be more light. It seemed like the wine that would pair well with something like a more flavorful cheese such as feta, gouda, etc. But seeing as I had the wine on it's own, it didn't carry its weight as a wine to sip on by itself. The wine tasted overly sweet for how Sauvignon Blanc is described and it was also overly acidic. The balance of the wine was very off and I would like to try the same variety with a different brand in order to properly gauge my liking of Sauvignon Blanc.
