Store Review:
"Savor the crisp taste of Yosemite Road Pinot Grigio Colombard Wine, a delicious white wine blend with 12.5% alcohol by volume. Made with carefully selected grapes, this wine features a refreshing and light flavor profile that pairs perfectly with chicken dishes and light salads. This wine is well-balanced and easy to drink, making it an excellent choice for any occasion. Plus, it contains sulfites for added freshness and longevity. Enjoy this wine chilled on a warm day or pair it with your favorite meal for a delightful dining experience."
Wine Folly:
Pg. 149 - Pinot Gris is known for being a variety that is a pink grape mutation of Pinot Noir. It has a zesty taste in the range from dry to sweet. It's known for its best pairings being with white meats, seafood, and food with a fruit element. I certainly picked up the zesty taste, it had a pretty decent acidity to it as well. It had next to no tannin presence and in the case of the Yosemite Road variety, tasted very cheap and a bit sweet.
My Review:
My expectations were not especially high for the Yosemite Road Pinot Grigio. I bought it very cheap and the online reviews stated that it was a pretty below average wine but I bought it from convenience and on the way out of the grocery store. It's best quality was that it was "easy to drink" as it was a pretty sweet wine. Pinot Gris is known for its varying sweetness and the sweetness for this wine was clearly high to compensate for its poor quality. The wine was decently acidic but lacked any real tannin presence or body. It has been stated to pair best with white meats and seafood but truthfully I don't see this particular brand and variety pairing well with anything at all. I didn't enjoy drinking it on its own either. The wine seems to exist simply to get drunk. (1.9/10)
